Roles

Day in the life — Department leader

How a department leader uses dashboard health, risks, and weekly updates to prepare executive readouts.

You are a department leader (director or head of function) — you own outcomes for a department and represent that function in leadership forums.

Demo walkthrough — department leader week (Northwind demo tenant)

At a glance

Monday morning

You start on the dashboard with your department filter applied. You compare KPI health, goal progress, and initiative status to what you expect entering the week.

You read the latest weekly updates from your managers and teams. You look for blockers that should become risks or action items with executive visibility.

You note anything that will surface in the Executive Briefing or leadership meeting — surprises here should be rare if the loop is working.

Midweek execution

When a threat has severity and ownership, you register or update an entry in the risk register instead of leaving it only in email.

You coach managers on KPI actuals and initiative health status — the model is only as good as the data they maintain.

You adjust initiative health or milestones when scope or dates shift, so executives see accurate signal.

You assign cross-functional action items when leadership decisions need follow-through.

Weekly rhythm

You consolidate department narrative before the executive readout: what improved, what slipped, and what decisions are needed.

You ensure every sub-team has submitted a weekly update for the current period.

You align with executives on which risks and goals need mention in the briefing deck.
