Slack

Install the VisionAtlas Slack app, connect your own threads, receive reminder DMs, and submit a personal weekly update from Slack.

What it is

VisionAtlas can talk to your Slack workspace. A company admin installs the app; each person clicks Connect Slack. VisionAtlas then:

  • DMs weekly-update (and optional stale-KPI) reminders on the same schedule as Settings → Notifications
  • Collects a personal weekly update from /visionatlas week or the reminder button
  • Reads your DMs, group DMs, and selected public/private channels you are in to seed Suggest draft on My Week

This is not Zapier, KPI actuals, or a workspace-wide crawl. Slack is not a second sign-in provider.

Install and connect

  1. Create the VisionAtlas Slack app at api.slack.com (dev and prod configs). Bot scopes: chat:write, im:write, users:read, users:read.email, commands. User scopes after Connect: im:history, mpim:history, channels:history, groups:history. Slash command: /visionatlas. Interactivity and slash commands point at https://<your-host>/api/slack/commands and /api/slack/interactions. OAuth redirect: /api/slack/oauth/callback.
  2. Set SLACK_CLIENT_ID, SLACK_CLIENT_SECRET, SLACK_SIGNING_SECRET, and SLACK_APP_ID on the VisionAtlas app.
  3. A company admin opens Settings → Integrations and clicks Install Slack app.
  4. Each user opens My Week or Settings and clicks Connect Slack. The Slack profile email must match the VisionAtlas account (same rule as Entra SSO).

Disconnect deletes that user’s stored Slack messages. Ask and Search only cite the connecting user’s items. Official department weeks are not auto-filed from Slack chatter — file those on My Week.

Stored Slack text uses the same encrypted retention window as Outlook/Teams (Settings → Privacy & data, default 90 days).

Reminders and intake

Weekly Slack DMs follow Settings → Notifications (day, time, timezone) and require the user to allow email reminders plus Connect Slack. Dedup uses the same send log as email/SMS, channel slack. Stale-KPI Slack DMs use the existing stale-KPI company toggle and the same reminders-allowed check (not SMS textAllowed).

/visionatlas week or the reminder button opens a modal for progress, blockers, and needs attention. Submit writes the same personal weekly-update fields as the web form.
